Gary is well-versed at interpreting corporate vision and strategy to advance corporate policies and processes, streamline back-office operations and maximize organizational growth. He has a leadership style that optimizes people and resources, while adding value through consistency, integrity and team development. Additionally, Gary’s experience includes M&A integration, due diligence, risk management and succession planning. Prior to VertexCFO, Gary was Senior VP of Finance and Administration for CAA ICON in Denver, where he advised the CEO and President on the strategic direction of the business and built a strong business support organization, resulting in a solid platform for growth and an exit strategy for the entrepreneurial owner. He led financial due diligence for the sale of ICON Venue Group, resulting in a successful sale for the owner of ICON. He also developed a robust financial budget/forecasting model for measuring the achievement of the company’s desired outcomes.
Gary holds an MBA from the University of Louisville and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He serves as a board member and VP of the Financial Executives International Colorado chapter. Gary and his wife Debby enjoy spending time with family and walking their two dogs. Sharon Bashaw Kirkendall is Director of Advisory Services and serves in the capacity of a fractional Controller for VertexCFO clients. With nearly three decades of experience in financial, accounting and IT systems consulting for Fortune 1000 companies, Chris leads VertexCFO’s Technical Services Group, including design and implementation of client accounting and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. With a primary focus on operating systems and process improvements, Chris helps clients understand their information system needs, and implements solutions that streamline processes and improve financial performance. Prior to consulting for 20+ years for his financial and accounting services firm which merged with VertexCFO in 2018, Chris held full-time controller and auditor roles.
Chris holds a BS degree in business and accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Chris serves as treasurer and a board member for Outdoor Buddies, a nonprofit organization that takes disabled people on hunting and fishing trips. Maya Chain is CFO Advisor at VertexCFO. She has more than 15 years of diverse accounting and finance experience with a strong focus on middle market companies in finance, manufacturing, technology, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. She is particularly strong with software implementation and applying accounting software to inventory control and management. Prior to joining VertexCFO in 2015, she served as vice president of finance for a promotional merchandising agency specializing in strategic global sourcing of manufactured items. She had oversight of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and was responsible for helping the company with inventory control and inventory management. Maya has in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly called Microsoft Great Plains), SAP and cloud-based accounting software like Intacct and FreshBooks. She holds a BS degree in business administration and management, as well as a MS degree in accounting and business management from University of Colorado at Boulder. A Colorado native, Maya enjoys spending time in the mountains with her family and skiing, hiking and biking.
Katie has two decades of diverse experience in the accounting field. In her role at VertexCFO, Katie supports controllers, directors and clients by performing monthly reconciliations, coordinating payroll details, managing bookkeeping responsibilities and assisting clients with daily transactional accounting duties. Katie has a detail-oriented style with an outgoing personality and she enjoys teaming with her clients to improve their accounting processes and meet their strategic operational goals. She is a seasoned professional at managing QuickBooks for small- to mid-sized companies, as well as understanding taxation policies including payroll, sales and property taxes. She frequently prepares clients’ sales analyses, P/L and balance sheet statements. Katie holds a BS degree in finance from Miami University of Ohio. She also participated in the international business program for the John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg. A Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, Katie enjoys the Colorado lifestyle with her husband and two children. Jazmin Dukes is Director of Advisory Services and serves in the capacity of a fractional Controller for VertexCFO clients. Jazmin thrives on helping business owners and management teams solve complex accounting issues and on being a key accounting team member. She enjoys working with accounting teams to improve transactional processes and brings clarity to financial information. Her years of experience in accounting include overseeing payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payable, corporate bank accounts, tax filings, general ledger reconciliations, financial analysis and preparation of financial statements for small, middle-market and large corporations.
Her experience also includes creating and managing her own accounting private practice, which included accounting services and advising clients on GAAP financials and best business practices. She holds a BS degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, she is a Certified Management Accountant, Certified Notary of Colorado and Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor. Jazmin enjoys outdoor activities, including dirt bike riding, rock climbing, back country skiing and mountaineering. She’s passionate about helping victims of sexual assault and created a nonprofit, The Ember Thrive Project, that brings victims together to explore physical fitness activities as positive coping mechanisms.

Kevin McMahon is a CFO Advisor at VertexCFO. He joined the company in 2019 bringing more than 25 years of experience in financial leadership — strategic planning, financial analysis, key metrics development, financial reporting process improvement, and M&A including post-deal integration. His career spans multiple industries, incorporating telecom, software, data management and retail companies. Kevin has a deep knowledge of finance for SaaS companies, with a proven track record of implementing strategic initiatives for profitability improvements.
Prior to joining VertexCFO Kevin served as VP Finance for Wunderman Data Products, a division of WPP Holdings, a $20B holding company. As a member of the executive team, he developed strategic initiatives to improve both profitability and working capital, including decentralizing the finance department, thereby saving $600K, and reducing DSO from 117 days to 54 days in six months. He further developed the financial elements of a Strategic Plan which was successful in securing internal investment for market & product expansion.
Kevin earned a BA with Honors in Accounting and Finance from Manchester Metropolitan University (U.K.) and holds the ACMA certification from the London-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He also holds the CGMA designation as a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
Kevin is married with 3 kids, enjoys road biking and has completed 10 Century rides in Colorado, supporting local charities. He enjoys cooking and spends vacation time in Europe where he can visit his family.
